Our God is the ultimate example of generosity, the giver of all things! And as we aim to become more like Jesus we are challenged to consider where our heart lies towards the poor, the church and the gospel.
Watching a video from the Practicing The Way series, we heard John Mark Comer briefly summarise teaching on generosity, and encourage us to approach the subject with fresh eyes; perhaps even trying one of the practical suggestions. The link is below if you’d like to catch up or watch again:
The key issue for us as followers of Jesus is that generosity comes from our heart; it is not a rule to be followed. So our Spirit-led acts of generosity can look very different for each of us.
If you’d like to follow the teaching in more depth, the 4 part ‘Practising the Way’ series is available on YouTube:

Another resource I mentioned is Joshua Becker’s book ‘Things that Matter’. Joshua writes about simplicity, and how our habits, lifestyle and belongings can become a distraction that can get in the way of God’s purposes for us.
We will be running a course in the near future: ‘Simplicity, Love & Justice’ by James Odgers – founder of The Besom. If you would be interested in taking part, let me (Julia) know, or message Core Team
