Hello! I’m David, the Children and Youth Worker at Oaks Community Church. Along with all of our amazing volunteers, I help resource and equip our children and youth activities in both Dronfield and Eckington. I have worked with Children and Young people for many years; it’s been a privilege to see them thrive and to offer support as they grow.
We hope to support and equip families, have lots of fun and give Children and Young people the chance to explore what faith in Jesus can look like for them. Sharing the Good News
Sharing the Good News of Jesus with children and young people is a huge priority for us at the Oaks. We believe children aren’t just the church of the future but the church of right now! We long for them to know Jesus personally and to know how the Bible is relevant to them today. We provide opportunities for children and families to encounter God, find friendship, encouragement and support, and have fun whilst learning more about Jesus.
What We’ve Got Going On…
All our gatherings are welcoming to families, with planned activities for the kids if they are staying in or an organised Sunday Cool. On the Second Sunday in Eckington, we have a Family Breakfast where anyone can come and join us for a chat and bacon sandwiches! We leave plenty of time for children to explore and play, as well as having a gathered time together with faith stories, sung worship, and activities. During 2027, we will be following the theme of ‘Little me, Big God‘, based on the series of books written by Steph Williams, in the hope that it lays a foundation for the children and young people to know how God sees them, what God is like and what Jesus has done for them personally.
Acorns is our baby and toddler group for 0-3-year-olds that runs Monday mornings between 9:30 – 11:30am at our Eckington site, The Lighthouse. We welcome mums, dads, grandparents, and childminders to come along. There will be toys, sensory activities, crafts, and singing to get involved in. There’s no need to book your place ahead of time; just come along, and we’ll register you and your child/children!
Kids Connect is our after-school group in Eckington at The Lighthouse. It is a great opportunity to meet children from other schools in the local area and get hands-on with craft activities. There are lots of different areas to play in, and games to engage with.
