Surely the God of the universe, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords can’t really want to have a personal, intimate relationship with you? Isn’t that a paradox? Well, He knows every hair on your head and every star in the sky. He knows your thoughts and has examined your heart, and not a single sparrow is forgotten by him. This isn’t a paradox like it might initially seem. He can be the Lord of Lords and the Creator of all creation and want to know you, too. We don’t follow some distant, far-off God who doesn’t care about you. We follow a God who is slow to anger, rich in mercy and full of unfailing love.
“How can this be possible?” You might ask. Well, the greatest news is that, because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross, the Holy Spirit, God’s Spirit, now comes to dwell IN you. You never have to be separated from God again. No matter how you feel, you are close to God, right now. That is the truth. Don’t believe me?

“I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” – John 14:16 – 17
“If the spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.” – Romans 8:11
“To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” – Colossians 1:27
Reflect
Take a moment to ‘practice the presence of God‘. Reflect on the fact you have Christ’s Spirit in you. Ask God to reveal himself to you, that you might become more aware of His presence in you.

We sang this song on Sunday. Listen again and meditate on the words. Remember: God rarely wants more from you, only more of you!
