“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” – Psalms 46:1-11 NIV
Reflect
The theme of our gathering was ‘Selah’ and was shaped around the idea of a Psalm. In each moment we left space to explore God and hopefully for Him to explore us.
A few different images were used to help enable this:
- Maxine shared about Jesus healing the women who had been bleeding for many years (Matthew 9:18-26), challenging us that while everyone was waiting, only one person stepped out and encountered Jesus.
- There was Ed’s word about seeing Jesus as fire; and how we can be ‘baptised with fire’. Jesus is described throughout the Bible as man with fire in His eyes or a body like molten metal.
- Finally, David shared how Jesus describes Himself as the bread. An image that should speak of a meal, joy and satisfaction, not just a small crumb. Like a toddler learning eat, they not only get to eat the food they need but also the pleasure that comes with it.
Which of these images do you need to let Jesus reveal himself to you in?
Is there something you see of Jesus in the examples that you want to show to others?

The space created at our Celebration was practice for a lifestyle of Selah pauses… where can you find moments to pause in your week to spot Jesus?
