Arts, Media & Entertainment
This week it is the National Week of Prayer. Yesterday, Dorothy read from Psalm 73, reminding us that God never lets go of our hand, even when we might turn away from him, there’s always grace. We want to join with Christians in our nation this week to ‘humble ourselves, repent, and pray for lives to be transformed by Jesus, and to see a spiritual awakening in the nations, at what feels like a particularly significant time in our nation’ (quote from NWoP website). We want to pray our nation returns to God.
Yet I still belong to you;
you hold my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel,
leading me to a glorious destiny.
Whom have I in heaven but you?
I desire you more than anything on earth.
My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
but God remains the strength of my heart;
he is mine forever. – Psalm 73:23-26
We can all get involved! Today’s focus of prayer is on ‘Arts, Media & Entertainment’. We have a few resources below that you can use to help guide you in your prayers…
A Written Prayer:
“Our Father in Heaven,
We bring before You all those around the world who work within the media.
We ask for Your blessing on the producers, directors, presenters, managers, writers, journalists, editors, technicians, advertisers, artists, dancers, publishers and the vast array of others who make up the media.
Your Word instructs us to pray for people in places of responsibility (1 Tim 2:2). So God, to these media professionals, please grant wisdom and discernment. Help media decision-makers and content-creators to be sensitive to the needs of their audiences and our communities – whether local, national, or global. Use their words, pictures and stories to touch hearts and engage people’s minds towards goodness, truth and beauty. We pray for those working behind the scenes. We thank You for their talents and technical abilities.
We pray for a greater openness to Your Spirit, that more people in the media would look to You for wisdom, inspiration and guidance. Lord, make our media a blessing to all people.
We pray all this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ,
Amen”
Prayer and Declare using Media:
This song by Rend Collective is great to sing and declare over our nation.
