Quite often Midweek Musings is an opportunity to reflect on the teaching points from Sunday. However, when the main teaching point is the verse that tells us that “when [we] come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up” (1 Corinthians 14 v 26), it is far more appropriate to reflect on what actually happened.

Somewhere near the start of the meeting, Reg spoke out powerfully, shockingly even, to say that we had a visitor – an angel, with its wings encircling us. I, for one, was very challenged by this. There we were, hadn’t even sung the first song yet! But God was, indeed, already there, encouraging and exhorting us. Thank you Reg for your obedience in speaking that out.

I won’t go through everything that was said, but thank you for the passages of scripture that were brought to us, the prayers, the thanksgiving, the words spoken out, the David Gray lyrics (yes, you read that right!) that were sung over us.

Thank you everyone for your participation. It was obvious that many of you had done your ‘homework’ before we met on Sunday, and this was reflected in our time together.

Below I’ve added the picture we displayed on Sunday. Have a close look at it; what do you see? Zoom it out if it helps.

If it helps, here’s a link to one of the songs from Sunday that you can listen to as you reflect on this picture. Make yourself comfortable, have a listen.  What do you hear?
