Re:Store is a local community project which aims to combat food waste and fight hunger! It is usually open to everyone in the S18 area, every Thursday, 9am – 10.30am and Tuesday 3.45pm – 5pm but we are currently at capacity for both days so are operating a waiting list (see above for details).

Frequently Asked Questions:

The food is gathered each week from a variety of sources. It is mostly short-dated food that supermarkets can no longer sell even though it is perfectly fine to eat. We also have donations of surplus food from people’s allotments and gardens which they have grown.

Sometimes the food isn’t short-dated; there may have been an error when ordering it which led to too much stock, or it may have been donated by charities or people that want to support Re:Store. We will try to be as clear as possible on where the food has come from each week so if you wish to only take the short-dated food, you can choose to do so.

We believe that not having any qualifying criteria for Re:Store is best for everyone. Those who want to combat food waste can come and know they are doing that, and those who need food can come and get it and no one can tell the difference between the two. Most people come for a combination of reasons!

Given the current economic climate, we are all becoming more careful with how we spend our money at the moment and Re:Store will inevitably help those in financial hardship. As well as Re:Store, we work in conjunction with New Hope Food Bank and the Freedom Project to support those in difficult circumstances, whether that be physical needs such as food, emotional needs, or spiritual needs.

We always endeavour to help where we can, if people are in need. We are here to serve our community and show them the love of Jesus.

All of the food we put out at Re:Store is checked by our volunteers so you’ll never get anything past a use-by date that would be unsafe for you to eat. Because we receive the food from a variety of sources each week, we can’t guarantee what items will be available.

Yes, the cafe is free and everyone is welcome, whether they are coming to the food service or not! We serve hot drinks and snacks, so stop by for a cuppa and a chat.

As well as running Re:Store, we act as a collection and distribution hub for New Hope FoodBank. If you need an emergency food parcel, please contact them on 0793 995 0713 to ask about a referral.
