A member of the Oaks Community Church is a follower of Jesus Christ, baptised in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Together we will commit ourselves to one another and to the mission, vision and values of the Oaks.
The mission of the Oaks is:
To evangelise & disciple
The vision of the Oaks is:
To see every member released into their God given dreams, visions, ministry, strengths or calling.
Our values:
We value THE PURSUIT OF GOD. We are hungry to know God's presence, hear His voice and follow hard after Him. We value the relationship we have with 'Abba' Father. We value CHRISTLIKENESS. We desire, as individuals and corporately, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to be like Jesus in all that we are and do. We value BEING SPIRIT-LED. We aim to walk in the freedom of the Spirit, seeking to be responsive to His guidance in life and ministry. We value THE MERCY OF GOD. We believe that mercy is fundamental to all that God does in salvation. We therefore aim to extend mercy to one another and to all to whom we minister.
We value REALITY. We aim to live and relate as real people, openly and without pretence. We acknowledge the reality of both the spiritual and physical realms and seek to operate in both in the naturalness of our human condition. We wish to do nothing for religious effect.
We value THE CHURCH. We acknowledge the Church as the family of God, and His chosen agent on the earth. We recognise geographic churches and value membership of, and commitment to, such local churches. We value UNITY IN CHRIST. We believe all who belong to Christ are part of His body, the church. We are committed to working towards unity with other parts of the body. We value THE INDIVIDUALand affirm their uniqueness and worth in God. We recognise personhood from conception and respect the dignity of all people regardless of condition. People matter to God. We are honoured by every person whom God adds to us and affirm their part in "body-ministry". We value RELATIONSHIPS. We seek to relate together on the basis of God's love and forgiveness to us. We desire to maintain mutual respect, open communication and commitment, and to honour each other by believing and speaking the best of each other. We value friendship as an end in itself and a basis for other activity. We value DISCIPLESHIP. We seek first to grow as disciplesof Christ ourselves, and then make disciples of others. Hence, we value discipleship by others in all areas of our lives and seek to be accountable to such people. We value SERVANT LEADERSHIP(male and female) given to the church and the authority invested in that leadership by Christ. We seek to exercise this authority with humility, selflessness, grace, love and a sincere desire to build up the body of Christ. We also value APOSTOLIC OVERSIGHT and seek to work in partnership with those called to such work. We value INTEGRITY. It is important to us to speak the truth, deal honestly and live uprightly. We value the WORD OF GODas recorded in the Bible. We acknowledge the authority of scripture in all matters of faith, doctrine and morality, and we believe it relevant to all people at all times. Our interpretation and application of scripture should be Christ-centred and dynamic. We value DOING THE WORK OF THE KINGDOM. We aim to move in the signs of the present fulfilment of the kingdom, invoking the Spirit's powerful presence, ministering through the Spirit's gifts and seeing God heal and work wonders.
